Impact Living Services: A Better Future for Teenagers in Foster Care

Life for teens aging out of the foster care system is harder than the average 18-year-old’s. However, in the Greater Lynchburg area Impact Living Services looks to give them a brighter future through their independent living programs. 

When a child in the foster care system reaches the ages of 17 to 21, they begin to age out and must make a decision: do they want to go out independently into the world or do they want to seek extra care and support as they transition?

Pierce Street Gateway Raising Funds for Revitalization

Standing on Pierce Street in Lynchburg, Virginia are eight historical markers, the most within a two block radius in the state as a whole.  

The Pierce Street Gateway, founded in 2018, is working to revitalize and lift up the neighborhood in an effort to tell the stories of the ordinary and extraordinary residents of the Pierce Street Historic District.  

Meals on Wheels Fundraiser Creates More Meals and Opportunities

Meals on Wheels of Greater Lynchburg provides about 600 warm, healthy meals per day, Monday through Friday to homebound individuals in the community. They do this work year-round, rain or shine due to their love of serving and nourishing the community.

This week, Lynchburg City Schools opened its doors to students for the start of a new school year. What does it take for a student of any age to succeed in school? It takes a village of people and services to ensure a child’s success, but one thing that is crucial to every student is a regular, nutritious diet.

Join us for a complimentary lunch followed by a presentation by the Lyn-CAG team. Who is Lyn-CAG? How can we partner? Come learn about our different programs such as Head Start, Weatherization, First Time Homebuyers Club, Employment Training, VA Cares, and so much more.

We will conclude with a tour of the Lyn-CAG facility.

Lunch will be provided by SHARE Greater Lynchburg and Freedom First.
