SML Good Neighbors Cares for Children of Bedford and Franklin Counties

Nestled in the heart of Smith Mountain Lake sits a nonprofit organization by the name of SML Good Neighbors. Year-round, SML Good Neighbors serves the children in Franklin and Bedford counties by teaching them good neighbor skills and setting them up for success. 

One of the organization’s summer goals is to prevent summer learning loss, also known as the ‘summer slide.’ 

Peer-to-Peer Lunch and Learn with Meals on Wheels of Greater Lynchburg

We will gather at the GLTC Transfer Station Meeting Room (800 Kemper St, Lynchburg, VA 24501) for lunch and a time of sharing, followed by a presentation by Meals on Wheels of Greater Lynchburg. The topic will be volunteer recruitment, appreciation and retention and Meals on Wheels is preparing takeaway tools for attendees.

CVACL Supports Seniors with 'Taste of the Derby' on May 6

After a two year COVID hiatus, the Central Virginia Alliance for Community Living (CVACL)  is back for its ‘Taste of the Derby’ party on Saturday, May 6 from 4-9pm.

The party is the organization’s biggest fundraiser of the year, completely sponsored so that money earned from ticket sales goes right back to supporting the organization’s programs.
