Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States, built and designed only 2 homes himself, and one of them is right in our backyard. Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest, located in Bedford County, was Jefferson's retreat house where he spent time throughout the year.

CASA of Central Virginia is in Need of Volunteers

The Court Appointed Special Advocates, also known as CASA workers, of Central Virginia are in need of volunteers to help the ever growing need of representing the voices of children in the court setting. CASA recruits, trains, and supports their volunteers who specialize in advocating for the needs of children who have been abused or neglected and are going through the court system. 

Peer-to-Peer Lunch and Learn at the Jones Memorial Library

Join us on Thursday, June 20 from 12-1:30pm for our SHARE Greater Lynchburg Peer-to-Peer Lunch and Learn hosted by Jones Memorial Library. We will enjoy presentations from both Jones Memorial Library and The Pierce Street Gateway and Pierce Street Community Garden and learn about their past collaborations.

New Lynchburg Public Library Downtown Location Grand Opening

A new chapter is beginning at what some have called “the busiest corner in Lynchburg.” The Lynchburg Public Library, with locations on Memorial Avenue, and previously at City Hall, is welcoming a new location at the corner between Twelfth and Church Street, the former Visitor Center.
