What We Do
The Lynchburg Museum Foundation is the non-profit support organization for the Lynchburg Museum System, which manages the public museums and archives of the City of Lynchburg. The Foundation supports the Museum System in its role as the city’s primary center for collecting, interpreting, preserving, and sharing local history and culture. The Museum System currently oversees two historic sites: the Lynchburg Museum at the Old Court House and Point of Honor in Daniel's Hill.
Interesting Info
The Lynchburg Museum Foundation helps its museums preserve over 40,000 artifacts, photographs, and documents from local history.
For the entire 19th century Lynchburg's population was 50% Black. We are working hard to reflect that diversity in our museums and public history projects.
We want every single Lynchburg City Schools student to visit one of our museums at least once every year to help better understand and appreciate our community.
