United Way of Central Virginia (UWCV) is a nonprofit organization that is committed to addressing social issues & has been serving the community for over 100 years. UWCV believes in the vision of a thriving community where everyone has the opportunity to realize their full potential & attain self-sufficiency.
UWCV is now expanding its impact by creating an innovative Nonprofit Incubator Program. The goal of the program is to empower startup nonprofit organizations with guidance to achieve their goals surrounded by positive community impact.
We talked with Kim Soerensen, President & CEO of United Way of Central Virginia, as well as Ula Kauppi, Director of Resource Development, about their launch of the Nonprofit Incubator Program.
“Being in our building creates an excellent cohort as the goal is to not just provide a learning environment but also collaboration between nonprofits,” stated Kim Soerensen.
The incubator offers three office facilities for rent at a heavily discounted rate, with access to meeting rooms. The requirements to qualify include 501(c)3 status and commitment for two years. The nonprofit’s mission also must align with one or more UWCV’s 4 main focuses: Health, Education, Financial Stability, & Basic Human Needs.
