Feature: Amazement Square Becomes the First Museum in Virginia to Earn Certified Autism Center™ Designation

The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) has named Amazement Square a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC), marking the first Museum in Virginia to earn this accolade. The CAC designation is granted to organizations that have completed training and certification to better serve autistic and sensory-sensitive visitors.

How Lynchburg Grows Will Expand their Mission with the $100K GLCF Century Fund

The Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation (GLCF) recently announced their 2023 winner for the annual $100,000 Century Fund to be Lynchburg Grows.

Lynchburg Grows is a nonprofit farm located in the middle of the city of Lynchburg. Lynchburg Grows works with the community to provide access to healthy, locally grown food as well as provide jobs to disabled community members.

Peer-to-Peer Lunch and Learn at Miriam's House

Join us for our July Peer-to-Peer Lunch and Learn at Miriam's House on July 19, Noon-1:30pm! We will gather at 409 Magnolia Street for lunch and a time of sharing, followed by a presentation on the homeless coalition that MH has led for the past 25 years. Executive Director Sarah Quarantotto and Homeless System Coordinator Sarah Fuentes will be presenting.

We will conclude with a tour of Miriam's House. SHARE Greater Lynchburg will provide lunch.

United Way of Central Virginia Announces Nonprofit Incubator

UWCV believes in the vision of a thriving community where everyone has the opportunity to realize their full potential & attain self-sufficiency. 

Feature: Fireworks on the Riverfront with the Downtown Lynchburg Association

Fireworks on the Riverfront is BACK this summer in Downtown Lynchburg on Friday, June 30th from 6-9:30pm! This firework display is a free event taking place at Riverfront Park to bring together the Lynchburg community. 

This ‘picnic-style’ event allows you to bring your own food or to grab takeout from the downtown restaurants prior to the event. There will be food trucks & activities at the event throughout the evening to enjoy as well.

Hill City Pride and Pride Month Events

SHARE Greater Lynchburg sat down with Kelli Coleman, Board President for Hill City Pride, to learn more about the organization. Kelli said, “I moved from Dallas where I worked with Dallas Pride but on the entertainment side and now love being a part of the full scope of managing a Pride organization and festival.

Celebrate Juneteenth Across the Greater Lynchburg Region

As we enter into the month of June, we celebrate the history of Juneteenth in a place that signifies the beginning of an end. Appomattox, Virginia has a unique connection to Juneteenth as it was the location of the first set of enslaved people that were freed on April 9, 1865. 

Peer-to-Peer Lunch and Learn with Mission Thrift

We will gather at the Freedom 4/24 and Sports Outreach Meeting Room (2306 Bedford Ave.) for lunch and a time of sharing, followed by a collaborative presentation on the Mission Thrift model, vision and plan. We will conclude by walking across the street for a behind-the-scenes tour of Mission Thrift. Lunch will be provided by SHARE Greater Lynchburg.
