Kids' Haven's School-Based Grief Support Group Program provides a place where children and teens who have experienced a life-changing death loss can come together to be part of a community. School groups provide grief support to students during the school day, which is especially helpful for children and teens who may be unable to attend our Family Group Night meetings.
Trained grief-support volunteers facilitate our age-appropriate peer support groups. These dedicated volunteers lead grief-related activities during group sessions and facilitate discussion among group members. While Kids' Haven does not provide counseling services, we believe that children and teens can find understanding, stability, and support through participating in facilitated peer support groups.
Kids' Haven provides background checks and training for all volunteers. Interested individuals must successfully screen, undergo background checks, and complete training before beginning their role as a volunteer.
If you are interested in becoming a grief support group facilitator, we would love to connect with you! Contact us by email programs@kidshavenlynchburg.org or call (434) 845-4072.
