Blue Ridge Area Food Bank

As a Food Bank Volunteer, you may sort canned and boxed items or produce for distribution. Other packing and cleaning jobs may be assigned as needed during your shift. Training and support will be provided by the Food Bank.  This shift runs Monday-Thursday from 8:30am-12pm  at our Downtown Lynchburg Warehouse.

You may be tasked with any of the following: 

• Checking produce for quality and food safety 
• Checking donated items for distribution and food safety 
• Packing Emergency Food Boxes 
• Cleaning donated product for distribution 
• Maintaining the cleanliness and food safety of volunteer working area 

If needed, other tasks could include: 

• Preparing shipments for delivery 
• Enhancing efficiency in warehouse by making items easily accessible for staff to fulfill orders 
• Cleaning and organizing warehouse storage and volunteer areas 
• Restacking pallets to be stored safely in warehouse
