You must be 16 + years of age to volunteer.
Volunteer tasks include the following:
- Rolling utensils & napkins together
- Plating the carry-out meals for guests
- Bagging containers of food
- Serving our guests from the take-out windows
Serving as a runner between the dishing area and the service windows
Volunteer shifts are from 9:30-12:30 each day. Please note that we are scheduling 3-4 weeks in advance of volunteer opportunities. We hope that this delay won't deter you from joining us to volunteer!
While volunteering at Lynchburg Daily Bread, we suggest the following:
• Bring a water bottle/bottled drink
• Wear comfortable, closed- toe shoes (no flip-flops).
• Expect to be standing and active for the entire shift
• Volunteers must have good hearing and the ability to lift at least 5 pounds
Food safe gloves are provided.
Please do not park in the Holy Cross Church Parking Lot or in our small back lot. St. Paul’s Episcopal is one block away and welcomes us in their asphalt lot, around back. Parking is alos available at the city garage on the corner of 8th and Clay St. across from the fire station for a small fee. There is street parking as well.
