The Trillium Collaborative supports Lynchburg's only freestanding birth center, Trillium House, where professional midwives provide prenatal and postpartum care to their clients and where mothers can give birth in one of the center's birth suites, under their midwife's care. Affiliated midwives use the birth center for appointments with their clients and for office space.
The mission of the Collaborative is to provide accessible, holistic, individualized care to families who value and desire it.
Trillium House also provides a space where local birth professionals offer free monthly classes to prepare families for birth and beyond, including workshops on labor, breastfeeding, and the postpartum. It also hosts a monthly "Mom's Night Out" and a "Birth Circle for Men" group for fathers.
In support of its mission, donations to the Trillium Collaborative go toward providing financial stability for Trillium House and helping fund its operations, helping families pay for midwifery and doula services, based on their financial needs, covering the cost of giving birth at Trillium House, based on a family's need, paying birth educators, so that Trillium House classes remain free and open to all.
