What We Do
The Salvation Army of Greater Lynchburg is working to meet the needs of those in our community who are suffering by extending hope where there is none. This year, The Salvation Army of Lynchburg provided:
- 32,000 hot meals
- 572 people with shelter
- More than 12,900 needs of food, pantry items, financial assistance, and social services were met through our Family Services Program
- 1,557 children and families love beyond despair through Angel Tree and other holiday activities
- youth enrichment programs and camp opportunities for at-risk youth and spiritual development.
Donations of food are essential to our Community Feeding program. The Center of Hope is always looking for donations of breakfast items, can goods, meats, drinks, paper products, and all other food items. The center has an industrial kitchen and large freezers designed to accommodate community donations.
If you or your group would like to volunteer to serve in the kitchen, please contact us at 434-845-5939. We are always in need of volunteers.
