The Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra was started in 1983 as a way for local musicians to use their skills while enhancing the community’s arts programs. Now a fully professional orchestra, the LSO is a key contributor to Lynchburg’s cultural, intellectual and creative vibrancy. The mission of the LSO is to enrich lives and connect our community through opportunities to experience beautiful and high-quality symphonic music. LSO musicians live and work in the Lynchburg area, keeping the investment of our attendees and patrons in our community. LSO's programs include full-scale orchestral concerts at the Academy Center of the Arts, free small-ensemble outreach concerts, and music education through our Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra (LSYO).
