Kuumba Dance Ensemble, Inc. (KDEI) provides authentic West African Dance to children and adults in the community to expose them to the rich cultural traditions of Africa and the African Diaspora. In addition, we provide participants opportunities to learn drumming and dancing at the beginner, intermediate and advance levels for joyful performances. KDEI is committed to activities related to further education of our dancers and drummers such as studying weekly at Lynchburg Parks and Recreation and attending training conferences and studying with Master Instructors from across the country. Our #GivingTuesdayGreaterLYH greatest need is a reliable van to transport our children and equipment to performances as well as pick up children for classes and rehearsals.
- KDEI has enjoyed a wide range of community events and numerous performances. KDEI performed the Historic Academy Auditorium on Main Street.
- KDEI is a Diverse Community and its participants are similarly diverse. Two members have studied Dance in Senegal and Guinea West Africa.
- KDEI expects to ramp up our outreach and bring new participant energy and prowess to our authentic dance by reaching out to our investors and supporters.
