What We Do

The Junior League of Lynchburg is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the action of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively education and charitable. The Junior League welcomes all women who value our mission. We are committed to inclusive environments of diverse individuals, organizations and communities. Membership is open to women over the age of 21 who are committed to community service and want to become involved leaders in our community. We welcome women of all races, religions and national origins. Our members are single women, married women, mothers, and professionals from a variety of backgrounds, some of whom fall into more than one of these groups.

The Junior League of Lynchburg maintains the following position statements on women, children, health, arts & preservation, and the environment.

WOMEN: We support services essential for the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social growth of women and advocate to ensure that such opportunities and services exist.

CHILDREN: We are committed to ensuring that children and their families have the optimal opportunities and services essential for their physical well-being and safety, intellectual, educational, emotional, mental, and social growth and will advocate to see that such opportunities and services are provided.

HEALTH: We support and advocate responsible action concerning the general health and welfare of the aging, handicapped, and adolescent on a local, state, and national level.

ARTS & PRESERVATION: We support and publicly advocate action pertaining to the expansion and continuation of cultural arts and historic preservation, including improvement efforts.

ENVIRONMENT: We acknowledge the need for and advocate the development of management programs and projects to achieve the optimal allocation of natural re-sources within the environment.
