What We Do
The Junior League of Lynchburg is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the action of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively education and charitable. The Junior League welcomes all women who value our mission. We are committed to inclusive environments of diverse individuals, organizations and communities.
Membership in the JLL is open to women over the age of 21 who are committed to community service and want to become involved leaders in our community. We welcome women of all races, religions and national origins. Our members are single women, married women, mothers, and professionals from a variety of backgrounds, some of whom fall into more than one of these groups.
What are the requirements of membership?
Members are expected to commit 8 years to JLL, pay annual dues, attend General Membership Meetings once per month, and participate in JLL community outreach efforts.
The first year of membership in the JLL is referred to as the Provisional Year, during which new members learn about the programs, structure, and governance of the JLL. Beginning in August, it continues through June when Provisional members become Active members.
Applications for the next new member class open in May of 2021.
