What We Do
For more than 40 years, the James River Association has been providing a voice for the James River and taking action to promote conservation and responsible stewardship of its natural resources. We protect the river and connect people to it.
By improving the health of the river over the past 40+ years, JRA has paved the way for our citizens, wildlife, and ecosystems to rely on a clean river.
We engage more than 11,000 students across the watershed every year, including more than 1,500 in the Lynchburg area in 2019.
In 2019, JRA accepted the International Thiess Riverprize award on behalf of the river. Only 20 other water bodies across the world have received this honor.
