James River Association
What We Do
For more than 45 years, the James River Association has been providing a voice for the James River and taking action to promote conservation and responsible stewardship of its natural resources. We protect the river and connect people to it.
- By improving the health of the river over the past 45+ years, JRA has paved the way for our citizens, wildlife, and ecosystems to rely on a clean river.
- We engage roughly 13,000 students across the watershed every year, including more than 1,500 in the Lynchburg area in 2019.
- Our Lynchburg office is home to our batteau program, which provides river trips on our historically accurate batteau boat!
