What We Do
At Community Connected, we help individuals facing poverty, transition from foster care or incarceration through a faith based model called the Open Table. Volunteers are trained in the power of building healthy relationships and sharing social capital. A team of 6-8 volunteers from all segments of our community meet with an individual once a week for a year to build a Life Plan and create sustainable change.
This model goes beyond a transactional approach and addresses relational as well as material poverty. It is not charity or therapy but creates increased dignity and hope. Volunteers report improved understanding of poverty and new insights into their own personal relationships. Results can last for generations through the "ripple effect" that is created in reaching those who are served and those who serve.
