In partnership with families in need, the local community and businesses we build safe, affordable homes. When complete the Altavista Area Campbell County affiliate sells the homes to the partner families using a zero-interest mortgage financed by the affiliate. These mortgage payments are one of many ways we raise money for future builds. The partner families must also contribute a minimum of 300 hours of work we call sweat equity. With at least 57% of Campbell County households do not make enough to pay for basic needs (see https://www.unitedforalice.org/virginia), this is a very worthy and necessary work in our area.

- Your contributions as a volunteer are very valued because our organization is made up almost entirely by volunteers. There is only one part time paid employee.
