Kids’ Haven provides a place where children, teens, and their parents and guardians who have experienced a life-changing death loss can come together to be part of a community. Through participation in facilitated peer groups, they find understanding, stability, and support.
Family Group Nights are open to bereaved children ages 3 to 18 and their families. Group Nights occur on the first and third Monday evenings of each month during the school year (September to June) from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Following a free meal provided by a community volunteer(s), children ages 3 to 18 who are grieving the death of someone significant to them (parent, grandparent, sibling, caregiver, close friend) join age-appropriate peer support groups. A support group for caregivers of the children is also offered during this time. Trained grief group facilitators lead the support groups.
