Old City Cemetery - Southern Memorial Association

Lynchburg’s beloved Candlelight Tours are returning this October for the 16th year in a row! Led by lantern light through our historic grounds, your Spirit Guide will escort you to six unique vignettes where you will encounter actual cemetery residents from beyond the grave (portrayed by professional performers) and hear their fascinating tales of life — and death. Afterwards, enjoy cookies and warm cider as you explore the actual history, records, documentation and photographs of the characters you just encountered.

A SEATED MATINEE performance on Sunday, October 15 at 2pm will be available for guests with limited mobility. At this special performance, guests are seated in one location, and all of the acts come to them!

Tickets will go on sale on September 11th at 9am. Prices: $27/adults , $13.50/children (guests under age 13)

*This event is not recommended for children under 8. While it is NOT A GHOST TOUR, and not intended to be frightening, the tours deal with topics such as slavery, murder, and death in general. Guests of ALL ages are also expected to remain quiet during performances so that everyone can hear and enjoy. Parents are asked to consider this when bringing children and infants along for the show and disruptive guests may be asked to leave. Children under 8 will still be subject to the $13.50 ticket fee.
