SML Good Neighbors, Inc.

In 2026, we will offer Summer Enrichment Camp in Bedford County, Monday through Thursday from June 1 through June 25.  Camp will meet at Moneta Elementary School on N. Old Moneta Road, in (you guessed it!) Moneta. If you live permanently or in a vacation home near Smith Mountain Lake, we welcome your support.

Reading Buddies read one-on-one with children (rising 1st through 6th graders). On most days, you will spend 30 minutes each with four different children. We try to pair you with the same children each day you are at camp. We hope you can commit to a full week--or more--from 9:30 am to 12 noon. Please sign up even if you are unable to spend the entire week. Special bonds will form between you and the children; that is a guarantee!

NOTE: Anyone working as a Reading Buddy is required to have a background check. Details of the procedure will be provided when you sign up as a volunteer. If you worked as a volunteer with Good Neighbors the previous year, you do not need a new background check.
