In 2023, we will offer Summer Enrichment Camp in Franklin County, Monday through Thursday from June 5 through June 29. Camp will meet at Dudley Elementary School on Brooks Mill Road in Wirtz. If you live permanently or in a vacation home near Smith Mountain Lake, we welcome your support. Reading Buddies read one-on-one with children (rising 1st through 6th graders). On most days, you will spend 30 minutes each with four different children. We try to pair you with the same children each day you are at camp. We hope you can commit to a full week--or more--from 9:45 am to 12 noon. Please sign up even if you are unable to spend the entire week. Special bonds will form between you and the children; that is a guarantee! NOTE: Anyone working as a Reading Buddy is required to have a background check. Details of the procedure will be provided when you sign up as a volunteer.
