Meals on Wheels of Greater Lynchburg is a non-profit organization that, for 50 years, has addressed the unique needs of the homebound in Lynchburg and the close-in surrounding counties. Meals on Wheels is seeking an Intern to support the current Program management staff. The internship is non-paid, but Meals on Wheels will work with students to ensure academic credit is earned through their academic institution; in addition, a stipend is generally available for the successful completion of this internship.
Focus Area: Special Project – Client Connections
Hours / Timing / Term:
Fall 2024, Spring 2025
Community Outreach Manager and Community Programs Manager will oversee and structure 5 to10 hours per week for this position. (1, 2 or 3 credit hrs). All work is to be completed on site.
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with Community Outreach Manager and Community Programs Manager to plan and implement the various projects directly related to MOW client relationships.
- Potential projects include: phone survey follow-up asking established survey questions and reporting responses; support MOW staff in transitioning to new client database software
- With staff or seasoned volunteer, deliver meals occasionally to ensure a thorough understanding of those we serve.
Qualifications:
- Energetic, self-motivated, flexible, and passionate about those in need in our community
- Ability to relate and communicate with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
- A background/major in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Administration or Communications is preferred
- Strong computer skill a must
- Transportation required
