Volunteer your time and talents to support Camp Kum‑Ba‑Yah Nature Center, a nonprofit organization that connects young learners with hands‑on outdoor experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence, and deepen their understanding of the natural world.
Each year, CKBY welcomes more than 1,400 students from across Central Virginia for field trips that bring classroom learning to life. Through guided exploration of forests, streams, and outdoor classrooms, students investigate ecosystems, practice observation skills, discover local wildlife, and experience the joy of learning in nature. These experiences help children understand how their environment works, why it matters, and how they can care for the world around them.
In this volunteer opportunity, you’ll join CKBY’s team of Volunteer Educators, supporting field trips for pre‑K through middle school students. Volunteers help lead small groups, facilitate hands‑on activities, and share in the excitement of outdoor learning. CKBY provides training, lesson guidance, and on‑site support: you bring your enthusiasm, patience, and love of nature.
Relevant experience and interests include:
