URGENT - Disaster Cycle Services: Sheltering Service Associate

Are you passionate about helping others during times of crisis? The American Red Cross is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Shelter Service Associates. This pivotal role supports the Regional Disaster Cycle Services department and is crucial before, during, and after disaster events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the setup, operation, and closing of Red Cross shelters.
  • Interact with community members to ensure their needs are met and provide compassionate support.
  • Manage reception and registration processes for shelter residents.
  • Aid in feeding operations, ensuring that all residents receive meals.
  • Oversee dormitory areas, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for shelter residents.
  • Provide information and support in various areas within the shelter.
  • Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to maintain a well-organized and efficient shelter operation.

Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work in person at a Red Cross shelter in the Virginia Region.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
  • Compassionate and empathetic nature, with a strong desire to help others.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to assist in various shelter roles as needed.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
