Film Screening & Talk: Paint Me a Road Out of Here at the Maier Museum

Featuring artists Faith Ringgold (American, 1930-2024) and Mary Enoch Elizabeth Baxter (American, b. 1981), Paint Me a Road Out of Here uncovers the whitewashed history of Ringgold’s masterpiece, For the Women’s House, following its 50-year journey from Rikers Island jail to the Brooklyn Museum in a poignant, funny and true parable of a world without mass incarceration.

Stay for cupcakes to celebrate Faith Ringgold’s 96th birthday and a post-screening discussion led by Lesley Shipley, PhD, Associate Professor of Art History.
