What We Do
Aspire Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was started in January 2018 by Dr. Samuel Omotoye and his wife Mary Omotoye to simply give children from all walks of life opportunities to recognize and optimize their potential. We have partnered with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library (DPIL) to provide books from birth to five years of age for all Lynchburg City children. Every month a new, age-appropriate book is shipped to a child's home, completely free of charge. These books are personalized with the child's name to create an experience that makes books exciting and shows the child that someone is thinking of them.
DPIL is a large, multi-national, and reputable book gifting program that partners with local nonprofits that fund the program. By the time they graduate from the program, the child will have a home library of up to sixty books. The local DPIL program is available to all children meeting the residency requirements of the local program, in this case living within Lynchburg City. The accessibility of this program lead to its receiving the "Best Practice Award" from the U.S. Library of Congress for addressing social barriers to literacy.
Lynchburg City residents with a child between birth and five years of age can register for the program here: https://imaginationlibrary.com/usa/affiliate/VAZIP24504/
Our #GivingTuesdayGreaterLYH greatest need is funding that will provide monthly books for all children in Lynchburg under the age of 5. Each $25 donation supports one year of books for one child.
