FRIENDS of Beacon of Hope
VISION
The Friends of The Beacon of Hope will support the Beacon of Hope and its goal to provide scholarships for all eligible Lynchburg Public School seniors who wish to attain post-secondary education. We will assist in improving the quality of life in our community by investing in our children, by helping to prepare all Lynchburg City School students for post- secondary education.
MISSION
ADVOCATE for the development, growth and understanding of the Beacon of Hope and its goals.
PROMOTE community awareness of the Beacon of Hope initiative.
ENCOURAGE support of the Beacon of Hope by community members, both public and private, through their contributions and personal involvement.
SUPPORT fund raising efforts selected by the Beacon of Hope initiative to provide scholarships,
operating, and promotion expenses.
Some of the activities the Friends have participated in by volunteering or donating are:
* College Application Week
* FAFSA Week
* Senior Send Off
* Career and College Day
* Intern luncheon
* Scholar luncheon
* Assist as needed with the Corn-A-Ment & Art for Achievement
* Fund raising activities for high school “discretionary funds”
* Be involved with Beacon Buddies
The Friends of Lynchburg Beacon of Hope meet quarterly, this year they will meet via ZOOM, if interested call Joan Foster at 434 258-3315
