Volunteer Opportunity:

Food Prep and Distribution

You must be 16 years of age to volunteer.

Volunteer tasks include the following:

• Rolling utensils & napkins together
• Preparing vegetables
• Sorting/bagging grocery items
• Packaging snacks for children
• Plating the carry-out meals for guests

The 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. shift is in need of the most volunteers and includes prepping, packing and serving lunches.

We also have a 7-9 a.m. shift available to sort produce and package items for meals outreach

Our volunteer openings are usually filled about one month before a prospective volunteer or group can get on our schedule. We hope that this slight delay won't deter you from joining us to volunteer, nonetheless!

We close at 12:30 p.m. every day; therefore, our volunteer needs end at 12:30 p.m.

While volunteering at Lynchburg Daily Bread, we suggest the following:

• Bring a water bottle/bottled drink
• Wear comfortable, closed- toe shoes (no flip-flops).
• Expect to be standing and active for the entire shift
• Volunteers must have good hearing and the ability to lift at least 5 pounds

Food safe gloves are provided.

Parking is available at the city garage on the corner of 8th and Clay St. across from the fire station for a small fee. There is street parking as well.
Please do not park in the Holy Cross Church Parking Lot.
