Volunteer Opportunity:
Open to
Art for Achievement Committee
Lynchburg Beacon of Hope and the Lynchburg Art Club join forces to hold this annual fundraiser in November. This event brings together the extraordinary talents of the Lynchburg artists’ community and Beacon of Hope’s mission to empower and equip Lynchburg’s young people for education, training, and certification beyond high school.
The Art for Achievement committee meets monthly (via ZOOM during COVID times) and plans this unique event. Committee members help to secure artists from the community to donate their art, recruit sponsors for the event, as well as, plan the logistics for the evening. Funds raised from this extraordinary and unique event will support Lynchburg Beacon of Hope’s college and career access work for thousands of students in the Lynchburg City Schools and the Stay Close, Go Far Scholarships. The first Promise Program of its kind in Virginia, Stay Close, Go Far provides free community college or a scholarship to one of our local college or technical school partners for hundreds of LCS graduates from 2019-2024.
Artists from the local community, along with young talented artists from E. C. Glass and Heritage High Schools donate signed original pieces of artwork on 10 by 10 inch canvasses that will be hung together to form a giant mosaic, thus creating a collective vision of what makes this community so special and why our young people are considered such a vital and important part of the Lynchburg community. There is a silent and live auction of these pieces at the event.
If you are interested in art or would be interested in volunteering on the committee please contact Joan Foster, Development Director at Lynchburg Beacon of Hope at joan@beaconofhopelynchburg.org or call 434 258-3315.
